“There are probably easier ways to come up with a lesson plan than flying through storms at 27,000 feet in the middle of the Pacific Ocean. Sixth-grade teacher Dana Tomlinson of Emory Elementary School recently spent nine hours aboard a research plane nicknamed “Kermit,” getting first-hand National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration research experience as part of the federal agency's Teacher in the Air Program.
