Time Is Running Out to Register for Flood Assistance

CHARLESTON, W. Va. -- Time is running out for West Virginians who suffered February flood damage to register for state and federal disaster recovery assistance, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) reminded residents today. The registration cutoff date is Friday, April 28.
Twenty-five counties declared by President Clinton to be disaster areas are eligible for individual assistance. Those whose properties or businesses were damaged by February storms, landslides and flash flooding are urged to use FEMA's toll-free numbers to apply for assistance.
If you haven't already registered, the number to call is 1-800-462-9029. Those with hearing impairments can register by dialing (TTY) 1-800-462-7585.
Individuals with questions about the status of their current applications or the types of assistance still available can dial the FEMA Helpline at 1-800-525-0321 or (TTY) 1-800-462-7585.
