TO: ANA Grantees

SUBJECT: No Cost Extensions and the Importance of Project Monitoring

The importance of closely and effectively monitoring your ANA project can not be stressed enough. Project management is integral to the implementation and successful completion of any ANA funded project. This includes the timely completion of project objectives within the agreed-upon time period. In instances when a grantee anticipates that the project will not be complete by the agreed upon project end date, then the following ANA procedure will apply:

The Grantee is to submit to the Grants Officer an official written request to extend the project beyond the project end date, at no cost to the government. This request must be submitted at least 45 days prior to the project end date. A copy of the request to extend the project must also be submitted to the ANA Program specialist. A request for a no-cost extension received after the 45-day deadline will not be approved.

The request must include a new proposed project end date, a justification as to why the grantee needs to extend the project, and identification of the specific objectives and activities that have not been accomplished, with a stated reason for non-completion. Requests for no-cost extensions will only be reviewed for activities already included in the approved objective work plan (OWP). New objectives or activities will not be considered, reviewed or approved.

A grantee's request for a no-cost extension for the purpose of spending unused funds will not be considered nor is it a justification to extend a project end date. If you have a question about no-cost extensions call your ANA Program Specialist at 1-877-922-9262 or write to:
