These include formulation of national transportation policy; negotiation & implementation of international transportation agreements; assuring the fitness of U.S. airlines & enforcing airline consumer protection regulations; preparation of transportation legislation; issuance of regulations to prevent alcohol & illegal drug misuse in transportation systems; and promotion of an intermodal transportation system.
