1.13.2009 - Academy officials announce second hall of fame class  
Air Force Academy officials have announced the second class for induction into the Air Force Academy Athletic Hall of Fame. The six inductees -- Jim Bowman, Callie Calhoun Molloy, Dee Dowis, Terry Isaacson, Ernie Jennings and Ben Martin -- will be inducted May 8 at the Air Force Academy Falcon Club.

Damon Bradshaw, in the Air Force Afterburner monster truck, soars through the air Jan. 11 during the Monster Jam at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Mr. Bradshaw took second with fast lap times and freestyle performances that had the crowd of approximately 45,000 up and cheering. Afterburner's 540 cubic-inch Merlin supercharged racing V-8 engine churns out 1,425 horsepower. Mr. Bradshaw, in his 3rd season, demonstrated that he had mastered the application of power by launching the 10,000-lb vehicle more than 40 feet in the air, thrilling the crowd. Afterburner is equipped with 66" tall, 750-lb wheels and tires and has four-wheel steering. Combine that with massive amounts of power and Mr. Bradshaw can make the truck spin on a dime by turning all four wheels and spinning out. (U

Air Force track and field head coach Ralph Lindeman was inducted into the Arizona Track and Cross Country Coaches Hall of Fame Jan. 9 at a banquet in Glendale, Ariz. Mr. Lindeman, who is entering his 20th season at the helm of the Falcons' track and field program, is one of four members of the Class of 2009.

1.5.2009 - Hockey: Air Force comes back for 4-3 win over UConn  
Jacques Lamoureux scored a goal with 3:03 remaining in the game to lift the U.S. Air Force Academy to a 4-3 win over the University of Connecticut in an Atlantic Hockey Association game at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum Jan. 3 in Storrs, Conn.

The sixth annual Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl football game featured the Houston Cougars (7-5) taking on the U.S. Air Force Academy Falcons (8-4) on Dec. 31 at the Amon G. Carter Stadium here.

A record-setting ground game couldn't help the Air Force Academy Falcons overcome early mistakes, as the University of Houston Cougars downed the Air Force 34-28 in the Armed Forces Bowl on Dec. 31.

12.31.2008 - Hockey: No. 11 Air Force falls to Quinnipiac, 4-2  
Quinnipiac built a 3-0 lead in the second period and held on for a 4-2 win over No. 11 Air Force in the championship game of the Toyota/UConn Classic Dec. 30, at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn.

12.30.2008 - Hockey: Falcons win shootout, advance to championship  
No. 11 U.S. Air Force Academy Falcons and University of Connecticut Huskies skated to a 2-2 overtime tie in the first round of the 16th annual Toyota/UConn Classic Dec. 29 at the Mark Edward Freitas Ice Forum in Storrs, Conn. Air Force won the shootout, 2-1, to advance to the championship game on Dec. 30 at 7:15 p.m. EST.
