To Purchase R2 National Forest and Grassland Visitor Maps

National Forest and National Grassland Visitor Maps of the Rocky Mountain Region are available for $9 each for paper and $10 each for plastic. Each map covers all or a portion of one National Forest or Grassland. The scale is 1/2 inch per mile, although some maps use a scale of 1 inch per mile. and the maps show roads, trails, streams, lakes, recreation sites, land ownership and major points of interest. We do not print maps outside of National Forest or National Grassland boundaries.

We also offer statewide Wilderness maps for Colorado and Wyoming, showing all the Congressionally-designated Wilderness areas within each state.

Beginning September 13, 2007 the Rocky Mountain Regional Office will be selling National Forest and National Grassland Visitor Maps on a WALK-IN BASIS ONLY!

The US Forest Service's partner, the National Forest Store, will be offering secure on-line ordering ($1 service charge applies), along with ordering over the phone, by mail and by fax. Please check the box to the right for information regarding the different ordering options.

Topographic Maps

Topographic maps provide the greatest level of detail and cover small portions of a National Forest or Grassland. Typically, these maps do not show legal boundaries, but do show roads, trails, streams, lakes, recreation sites and major points of interest. These types of maps are available for purchase from:

• U.S. Geological Survey (USGS): The most popular USGS maps are known as "7.5-minute" maps. These maps have a 1:24,000 scale allowing for great detail.
• Trails Illustrated: These maps are based on USGS information, modified and regularly revised by National Geographic Maps in cooperation with the USDA Forest Service and local agencies. Trails Illustrated maps are available for every state in the Rocky Mountain Region, with the exception of Kansas. Trails Illustrated maps are available online from the USGS Map Store and the Trails Illustrated Web site.
