Temporary Road Closure In Fire Burned Area For Resource Protection

Christmas Tree Permits Available November 20
Personal use Christmas tree cutting permits for the Mendocino National Forest will go on sale at the district offices and the headquarters office in Willows, beginning Monday, November 20 through December 15.

Fall Prescribed Fire Projects
The Mendocino National Forest plans to begin its fall burning program on the Grindstone Ranger District. The controlled burns will begin today with a 60-acre understory burn eight miles northwest of Elk Creek.

Shots Fired At Hunter
A hunter reported being shot at on Saturday, September 30, while hunting in a remote area near Pinto Ridge on the Mendocino National Forest within Mendocino County.

Hunter Fire Controlled At 16,296 Acres
The Hunter Fire on the Mendocino National Forest has been
declared controlled at 16,296 acres. Roads and areas closed
during the fire are now re-opened to the public.

Additional Road Closures In Hunter Fire Area
To facilitate firefighting efforts and to address a high concern for
public safety, Mendocino National Forest Forest Supervisor
Tom Contreras has implemented a hazardous fire area closure
for the east flank of the Hunter Fire within the Grindstone
Ranger District in Glenn County, effective immediately
and until further notice.

extending its office hours on Friday, August 11, 2006,
until 9:00 pm, for the purpose of checking in hunters
for opening day of rifle deer season in A Zone.

Lightning Fires Update
Today, fire activity increased on the wildland fires burning on the Mendocino National Forest. Some roads have been closed and evacuations have been advised for some campgrounds, scattered cabins and summer residences along Forest Highway 7 in Glenn County.
