NOS Data Explorer offers access to many products, including bathymetry, coastal maps, environmental sensitivity index maps, aerial photographs, and more.

The NOS Data Explorer serves as a portal to obtain NOS spatial data.

This site allows users to:

search NOS data holdings
view metadata
link to and/or download specific data sets.

Data Explorer offers interactive mapping tools that allow users to locate NOS products in any area in the United States and its territories through a metadata catalog. Search results provide users with metadata records and links to websites with additional information. Specific data sets are available to view and download.

Featured Data Layer

Environmental Sensitivity Index (ESI) maps serve as quick references for oil and chemical spill responders and coastal zone managers. They contain three kinds of information:

Shorelines are ranked based on their physical and biological character, then color-coded to indicate their sensitivity to oiling.
Sensitive biological resources, such as seabird colonies and marine mammal hauling grounds, are depicted by shaded polygons and symbol icons to convey their location and extent on the maps.
ESI maps also show sensitive human-use resources, such as water intakes, marinas, and swimming beaches.
