The sample represents about 16.5 million undergraduates, and 2.7 million graduate and first-professional students enrolled during 1999-2000.

This CD-ROM contains the public-use DAS for BPS:96/98and related publication *.pdf files. In addition, it contains all current (through March 2000) Data Analysis System(DAS) components. The DAS can be used to generate user-defined tables and correlation matrices while maintaining the confidentiality of individuals. It contains all variables used to generate the descriptive report as well as numerous others.

This report profiles the financial aid received by U.S. graduate students majoring in science and engineering who were enrolled in U.S. postsecondary institutions in the 1995–96 academic year. This report addresses issues such as how science/engineering graduate students financed their education, including their borrowing history and employment status, with occasional comparisons to graduate students in the arts and humanities. Demographic characteristics and previous education are also discussed, comparing science/engineering graduate students with graduate students in the arts/humanities.

NCES 2000169 Low-Income Students: Who They Are and How They Pay for Their Education.
This report examines the characteristics of low-income undergraduates and how they pay for college. It begins with a profile of low-income students, comparing them with their not-low-income counterparts. Then, focusing on low-income students who attend full time, full year, it examines their financial need, describes the contribution of financial aid, and presents what is known about how they close the gap between what they have to pay and the amount of aid they receive. Finally, the report compares three-year persistence among low-income and not-low-income undergraduates.

This study compares the borrowing patterns of undergraduates surveyed in the last three National Postsecondary Student Aid Study surveys (NPSAS:90, NPSAS:93, and NPSAS:96). The analysis examines students who received federal Stafford or Supplemental Loans to Students (SLS) and analyzes differences in borrowing before and after the 1992 Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act.

NCES 97578 Nontraditional Undergraduates: Trends in Enrollment from 1986 to 1992 and Persistence and Attainment Among 1989-90 Beginning Postsecondary Students
This report uses data from the three administrations of the National Postsecondary Student Aid Study conducted in 1986-87, 1989-90, and 1992-93 (NPSAS:87, NPSAS:90, and NPSAS:93) to examine enrollment trends of nontraditional students. It then uses data from the Beginning Postsecondary Students (BPS:90/94) longitudinal survey to explore the persistence and attainment of nontraditional students who first began their postsecondary education in 1989-90.
