Interpretation
The Teton Division and surrounding Jackson Hole area boast unparalleled
wildlife viewing opportunities.
Dramatic geological features make for some unforgettable interpretive
experiences. In the summer, stroll along one of our self-guided,
signed, interpretive trails.
In winter, join a naturalist on a guided snowshoe hike at the Jackson
Hole Mountain Resort.

Self-Guided Interpretive Trails
Gros
Ventre Geological Trail, located on Gros Ventre Road. This trail
explains the unique vegetation and geology that resulted from the
1925 slide, while you can also view the slide itself and the beautiful
lake that formed from it.
Snow
King Nature Trail, located atop Snow King Mountain. Take the
chairlift or hike up. This trail provides great interpretive information
on the flora and fauna of the area as well as stunning views of
Jackson Hole and the Tetons.
Authorized Permittee Guided Tours
The following outfitters are the only companies
holding commercial hiking permits issued by the USDA Forest Service
on the Teton Division:

may or may not have liability insurance, adequate safety equipment,
or qualified river guides. Contact the Jackson Ranger District at

The Jackson
Hole Mountain Resort operates under a special use permit granted
by the Bridger-Teton National Forest. During winter months, interpretive
snowshoe hikes and cross-country ski programs are presented by Forest
Service volunteers in addition to the Resort staff. You can learn
about flora, fauna and by a knowledgeable guide as you explore this
special area.
The
Hole Hiking Experience offers tours throughout the year into
the Teton, Gros Ventre, Snake River, and Big Hole Mountain Ranges.
Your visit is enhanced when you join a local naturalist to learn
about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem. Destinations are based
