Supervisor Named
for Nez Perce National Forest
Missoula,
Mont.— “I am very pleased to announce that Jane Cottrell-Henifin
has been named Forest Supervisor of the 2.2 million-acre Nez
Perce National Forest,”
said Gail Kimbell, regional forester for the Forest Service's Northern Region.
Cottrell-Henfin is currently the deputy
forest supervisor of the Fremont-Winema
National Forest in south-central Oregon.
“Jane brings diverse and quality
experience to her new assignment in Idaho,”
said Kimbell. “She is a westerner with a
strong background in forest management.”
“I am excited about moving to Idaho
and working on the beautiful Nez Perce Forest,” said Cottrell-Henifin. “I enjoy
living in small communities and getting involved in community and school
activities and I look forward to hiking, fishing and cross country skiing in the
area.”
Cottrell-Henifin spent most of her
24 years with the Forest Service in Oregon
and Washington and has been in
her current position since 2002.
Originally from Tacoma, Washington,
she attended Washington State
University; earning her Bachelor of
Science degrees in Forest Management and Outdoor Recreation Management. She began her career as a forester on the Okanogan
National Forest in northern Washington
and was district ranger on the Wasatch-Cache
National Forest in Utah
where she had extensive involvement in the 2002 Winter Olympics.
Jane and her husband, David
Henifin, plan to settle with their 13 and 16 year old daughters in the
Grangeville area. She will report to her
new position mid-January. Acting
Supervisor, Steve Williams will return to his duties as deputy supervisor at
that time.
