Midwest Region On Jan. 17, 2007 the Midwest Region Refuge System released a workforce plan designed to help ensure the Region was able to complete its high-priority mission activities while operating under relatively static annual budgets and increasing operational costs. The Plan announced our intent to reduce field staffing levels by 71 positions, or 20 percent of the workforce, by 2009. On May 23, 2008 the Midwest Region Refuge System released an update on the status of its workforce plan.
