This image shows Winston Churchill (1874-1965) striding the deck of the H.M.S. Prince of Wales on his return to England after the historic Atlantic Conference held in 1941. The exhibition, "Churchill and the Great Republic" and its national tour, both organized by the Library of Congress, examines the life and career of Sir Winston Spencer Churchill and emphasizes his lifelong connections with the United States, the nation he called the "the great republic." The exhibition showcases the remarkable Library of Congress holdings on Churchill and his life. "Churchill and the Great Republic" closes with the words of President John F Kennedy spoken in tribute when granting Churchill honorary U.S. citizenship. "By adding his name to our rolls, we mean to honor him -- but his acceptance honors us far more. For no statement or proclamation can enrich his name now -- the name Sir Winston Churchill is already legend." This exhibition and its programming were made possible by the generous support of JOHN W. KLUGE. Additional support was provided by the Annenberg Foundation. The exhibit was organized and produced by the Interpretive Programs Office of the Library of Congress in cooperation with the Churchill Archives Centre, Cambridge, U.K. The exhibition is available online at Churchill Exhibition Frame : Shiny black metal Size : 29 1/2 x 20 1/2 Price: $130.00 Availability: Usually ships in one week Product #: EXpost0003 |
