EM495/6  Mechanical Engineering Independent Research Project

1/c and 2/c midshipmen wishing to study a topic area not covered in an elective course may propose to conduct an Independent Research Project. The midshipman must work with a faculty mentor to develop a proposed course of study. The proposal should be submitted to the Mechanical Engineering Dept. Midshipman Research Project Course Coordinator during the registration period in the semester preceding the one in which the project is to be performed. A well-written final report describing the research project and the results must be submitted at the end of the semester. In addition, each midshipman will make an oral presentation summarizing the project to the Mechanical Engineering Dept. faculty and invited guests during finals week

Eligibility: 1/C and 2/C midshipmen majoring in Mechanical Engineering, min. CQPR 3.0
