Smyrna, Del. -- Through the Federal Emergency Management Agency's Public Assistance program, disaster assistance for recovery from the June 23 storm is available to Sussex County, FEMA and the Delaware Emergency Management Agency said.

The deadline for applying is August 5. Representatives of government agencies within Sussex County and certain private non-profit organizations are encouraged to contact the Delaware Emergency Management Agency at 302-659-3362.

Public Assistance grants reimburse eligible applicants for costs incurred for emergency services, debris removal and infrastructure restoration caused by the event. Eligible applicants include state and local governments and certain private nonprofit organizations. The federal share of assistance is not less than 75 percent of the eligible cost for emergency measures, debris removal and permanent restoration.
