River to River Trail Updates

Home: Recreation: Hiking: River to River: Updates

Many sections of the River to River Trail are eroded, muddy or braided to the extent that they need to be rebuilt. When funding is available the Shawnee National Forest will reconstruct sections of the trail, sometimes moving it to a new alignment. Work on two such sections, one in the Lusk Creek Wilderness and the other in the Bald Knob Wilderness, has recently been completed and can be seen on the maps linked below. The new routes have been marked on the ground. Please take copies of these maps with you if you plan to hike or ride these sections. Please avoid using the old routes so that they can become naturalized.
