NNIS Program Overview

  • As outlined in the Forest Service National Strategy and Implemetation Plan for Invasive Species Management, Non-native Invasive Species (NNIS) pose significant threats to our nations forests and grasslands.

  • In the Eastern Region of the Forest Service,  a NNIS Steering Committee provides leadership to implement the Regional NNIS Framework. Each National Forest aims to take an active leadership role to facilitate coordination between other government entities and partners to achieve mutual NNIS goals on national forest system and surrounding lands. This webpage is designed to provide key references that guide this process.
