There are many national climate outlooks routinely provided by NOAA and the National Weather Service. Outlooks are broad predictions of future climate scenarios. Most of these are produced by the Climate Prediction Center (CPC). They are available in different formats and time scales and include outlooks for 6-10 days, 8-14 days, one month and three months. Each provides probabilities of temperature and precipitation across the country. They come with national maps (with probabilities) and technical appraisal of what each map indicates and why.
There are also two-week outlooks for hazardous and severe weather (published every week) and drought outlooks for the next three-month period (published every month). Another source of drought information is the Drought Monitor (published each Thursday) which shows the current conditions. Other outlooks available include the Hurricane Outlook (May through September), the Spring Water Resources Outlook (March and April) and the Winter Outlook (October-January). The global indicators of climate, including current conditions and discussion of El Niño/La Niña (ENSO), are available from the Climate Prediction Center. It also tracks many other indicators of climate variability. Local climate outlooks will soon be available for many locations across the United States (October 2006). These outlooks represent a more focused view of the three month temperature outlooks described above. In addition in 2007, another local outlook tool will become available. This information will be based upon El Niño/La Niña (ENSO) conditions and how they impact your local area. Finally, summaries explaining this local outlook information will be available as these tools come on-line.|
