Homeland Security Threat Level: YELLOW (ELEVATED).

Significant National Weather

West:
A low pressure system will bring rain and mountain snow to much of the West later today.  High temperatures will remain above average across the Rocky Mountain States with highs in the 60s and 70s.  Cooler temperatures will begin entering the region behind the low pressure system. 

Midwest:
A high pressure system moving across the Midwest will keep conditions sunny and dry.

South:
Much of the South will remain sunny under high pressure.  An upper-level low will move across the state of Florida, producing showers and thunderstorms.

Northeast:
High pressure will keep the entire region sunny for the remainder of the day.  Morning lows will be in the 20s from Upstate New York through northern New England.  Farther south, high temperatures will be in the 50s from the New York City metro area through Pennsylvania, Delaware, and Maryland.

Tropical Weather Outlook

Atlantic/Caribbean:
Tropical cyclone formation is not expected during the next 48 hours.
Eastern Pacific:
Area 1: An area of disturbed weather located about 800 miles south of Manzanillo, Mexico, continues to show signs of organization.  There is the potential for this system to develop into a Tropical Depression during the next couple of days as it moves westward at 15 to 20 mph.
Western Pacific:
No current tropical cyclone warnings. (NOAA, HPC, National Hurricane Center, Central Pacific Hurricane Center and the Joint Typhoon Warning Center)

Earthquake Activity

On Sunday, November 2, 2008 at 12:33 am EST an earthquake measuring 5.1 magnitude struck 15 miles ENE of Hagatna, Guam.  There were no reports of damage or injuries and there was no tsunami generated. (USGS, Earthquake Hazards Program,  Pacific Tsunami Warning Center)
