Cold Temperatures in the East – New Storms in the West

Northeast:
Cold weather will dominate New England, New York, and Pennsylvania during Monday. Highs will range from below zero near the Canadian border to the teens in New York and New England, 20s in Pennsylvania, and the 30s-40s in the Mid-Atlantic area.

High winds (30-45 mph gusts) are expected in New England through Monday night. 

South:
Cold weather is expected to continue in Florida Monday where lows will range from 20s in the northern portion to the 40s near Miami.

Other parts of the South including the southern Plains and areas east of the Mississippi River will see warmer temperatures.

West:
A storm system is expected to bring some rain to Southern California and snow to Nevada, Utah, Colorado, and southern Wyoming.

A different storm system will move into the Pacific Northwest late Monday bringing some heavy rain and snowfall. 

Midwest:
Most of the region will experience warming temperatures with highs in the 20s-30s near the Canadian border to the 50s-60s in Kansas.

Some light snow is expected near the Great Lakes with up to six inches southeast of Lake Ontario.    (National Weather Service, various media reports)

Earthquake Activity

A 4.8 magnitude (light) earthquake at a depth of about 6 miles was reported February 18, 2007 at 12:05 pm EST, 150 miles NW of Northern Mariana Islands.
