Public Scoping Meeting on the Proposed MBARI Cable The Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary (MBNMS) and California State Lands Commission are holding a public meeting to take formal public comment on a proposal submitted by the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute to install an advanced cabled observatory on the seafloor within the MBNMS.

This proposed scientific research project, known as the Monterey Accelerated Research System (MARS) would be comprised of one science node on 51 kilometers of submarine cable. Agriculture Water Quality Coordinator Position Announcement. The Monterey Bay Sanctuary Foundation (MBSF) requires services for ongoing project development and coordination with agencies and the agricultural community to carry out a completed plan to reduce polluted runoff in the watersheds draining to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary. NOAA’s National Marine Sanctuary Program requires the services of a contractor to expand on the MBNMS water quality model to tailor similar programs to the water quality issues and needs at four other west-coast sanctuaries. The contractor will serve as a liaison to these sites and will provide guidance and assistance in developing site-specific WQPPs that meet the needs of each sanctuary.CLOSED

Site Characterization Bibliography
The Site Characterization Bibliography is a bibliographic database of peer-reviewed and gray literature pertinent to the Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, including all literature cited in the Site Characterization document as well as other pertinent references obtained from research, educational and resource management institutions; consulting groups; interviewed experts; and independent searches. Currently the bibliography contains over 11,000 references. Now up and running on the SIMoN website (08/05/04)
