Abstract In the mid-1970s citizens were concerned about the increasing number of out-of-state cars parked on residential streets. Residents could not park on their own block. Commuters were turning District neighborhoods into parking lots. In response, the District initiated the Residential Permit Parking (RPP)program to limit on-street parking to participating residents living on blocks in the program. Parking is limited to two hours during the hours of operation for those vehicles without the appropriate zone RPP sticker. This website search engine allows the user to determine whether the area of interest is a RPP zone. There is also a two page brochure in PDF format that can be viewed from this site for further information.
