Box Canyon Guard Station
LOCATION: Approximately 75 miles SE of Eugene, OR on Forest
Service Road 19 (Aufderheide Scenic Byway)
ACCESS: Follow either State Highway 126 or 58 to FS Road
19 and proceed to the crest. The guard station is located across
from the horse camp
ELEVATION: 3,620 feet
FURNISHINGS: 2 twin beds, desk, 1 hide-a-bed, 2-burner propane
stove for cooking, table, chairs, and miscellaneous cleaning supplies.
A horse corral (appx. 45 feet in diameter), located next to the
guard station, is included in the rental.
SEASON AVAILABLE: Mid-June to mid-October (depending on
snow). It is not available for rental during the winter months.
STAY LIMIT: Reservations can be made for up to 14 nights.
PRICE: $60.00 per night.
CHECK IN/OUT: Check in at 2:00 p.m; Check out at 1:00 p.m.
CABIN CAPACITY: Maximum 4 people, (NO pets allowed in guard
station).
BRING: Warm bedding or sleeping bags, cooking equipment,
utensils, etc. are needed. Propane lanterns or flashlights and extra
batteries. (Propane stoves, heaters and lanterns are recommended
since they create less fumes than liquid gas appliances). Non-potable
water may be available until the first frosts--we suggest
you bring all the water you think you will need or have a means
to treat the non-potable water (it is from a stream located behind
the horse camp).
SANITATION FACILITIES: An outhouse is located outside the
building
Area Attractions: The cabin is located on the West Cascades
National Scenic Byway. Trailheads into the Three Sisters Wilderness
and the Chucksney Mountain Roadless Recreation Area are adjacent
to the Guard Station.
