Subject: TRAFFIC DELAYS ON AUFDERHEIDE DRIVE

Monday through Friday travelers along the southern portion of the road (Westfir to the crest) should be aware that over the next three months road construction may cause delays in their travels. Roadwork is occurring on Forest Road 19 between roads 1926 and 1940. Crews are stabilizing the roadbed, installing new culverts, and paving several sections of road. The work began Monday August 11, and will be completed by the end of October. Until the paving is complete, loose gravel on the roadway and sections of rough road should be expected. There are no detours around the construction area. Traffic delays of up to 30 minutes are permitted under the contract.

Visitors traveling August 18th and 19th along the northern portion of the road (from Augusta Creek crossing up to the crest) will encounter up to one hour delays as a helicopter project places large wood in the South Fork of the McKenzie river. Several campsites in the vicinity will be closed during each of those two days (Roaring River Group Camp, Frissel Campground, Dutch Oven and Twin Springs). Please contact the McKenzie River Ranger District with any questions
