Mission

The mission of the Chronic Disease, Injury, and Environmental Epidemiology (CDIEE) section is to systematically collect, analyze, interpret, and disseminate data on chronic diseases, injuries, and environmental exposures among Georgians. Information from the section is used to design control and prevention measures, to evaluate the effectiveness of public health interventions, and to improve services to populations at greatest risk.

Goals

  • Use data of the highest quality possible and know the limitations of all data sets used.
  • Prepare epidemiologic summaries of diseases, risk factors, and other indicators of future health.
  • Assist in the planning and evaluation of chronic disease and injury prevention programs.
  • Contribute new information to the epidemiology and prevention of chronic disease, injury, and environmental illnesses.
