Recreational Activities
Recreation activities that can be enjoyed on the Coronado are nearly as diverse
as the people who come to visit. The most popular ones, however, are hiking,
camping,
birding, horseback riding, picnicking, sightseeing, and visiting historic areas.
Fishing and boating
are also available, but limited in this arid
land, while opportunities for the fast-growing sport of mountain biking are growing.
Winter sports are possible in the higher elevations; Mt. Lemmon Ski Valley is the most southern ski area in the United States.
These major activities are addressed directly in the main body of this Guide.
Information about fuelwood cutting, barrier-free facilities, and other general
topics -- such as weather, water and Forest road conditions -- are addressed under
their own headings. Obviously, it would be impossible in this Guide to address all the
activities people come to the Coronado to enjoy.
