ABC Model Methodology and Software Application Training

The ABC project team conducted a two-day, 'hands-on' training session on July 14th, 2005 at the National Conservation Training Center (NCTC).   Attendees included representatives from each Region and Washington Office program areas as identified by the FWS Deputies. The training covered the following topics related to the overall project implementation:

  • The ABC methodologies used to construct FWS ABC quarterly software models

  • PowerPlay and ReportNet v7.3 end user training

The first day of the training introduced the students to foundational ABC concepts and basic software functionality. The second day included an overview of the ABC model methodologies and an interactive discussion related to the FWS ABC software model data.

The following training materials were distributed during the class and are now available:

The FWS ABC Model Methodologypresentation - This Microsoft PowerPoint presentation provides an overview of the ABC model methodologies used as a basis for constructing the 'unburdened' and 'burdened' software models. It explains how resource costs are assigned to activities, and similarly, how activities are assigned to FWS performance goals as they relate to DOI strategic goals.

The FWS ABC Model Methodology diagram - A Microsoft Visio diagram of both the 'unburdened' and 'burdened' ABC model methodologies.

Training for the FWS ABC Reporting Tools:
Note: Official training is required before access to the tools can be granted. The training materials provided here are for reference only.
