The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery was dedicated and opened for burials on May 12, 2000.  The cemetery is situated on a 638.5-acre parcel of land that overlooks picturesque Mountain Creek Lake.  The gently rolling hills provide a pastoral setting for visitors as they proceed along the central boulevard to the small lake adjacent to the assembly area and committal shelters.

The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery has a Public Information Center (PIC) where visitors can obtain information from an automated KIOSK or from volunteers who staff the PIC seven days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The KIOSK contains the names of veterans and their eligible dependents buried at the cemetery. The KIOSK will generate a printed map with the name of the decedent and their grave location.

All funeral processions meet with their family, clergy, and cemetery representative at the PIC and then proceed to the designated shelter or gravesite.

Military Funeral Honors
The local military honor groups are comprised of a combination of active duty members and full-time reserve members who provide military honors to all veterans buried at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.  On occasion, members of veteran service organizations also participate in providing supplemental military honors by providing a three-person rifle detail or live bugler.

After a cemetery staff member confirms your service time please schedule military honors by contacting the following:

  • For retired Marine Corps Only, phone 866-826-3628.

Current Events:  With all of the construction and projects going on throughout the cemetery and on the main roads to the cemetery we would like to inform every one of the following.

Please excuse our progress as we are under construction due to several gravesite expansion projects and infrastructure improvements.  We are hoping to complete these necessary enhancements by 2010.  As a result of the expansion we will be able to provide additional burial sites, committal shelter and roadways which will allow us to better serve our Nation's veterans and their loved ones.

Mountain Creek Parkway and Illinois Avenue are currently under construction with an estimated completion date of 2010. Additional lanes and wider roads will allow for a much easier arrival once completed.
