Section 1. INTRODUCTION

 

1-1-1. PURPOSE

This order contains the approved word and phrase contractions used by personnel of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). It is also used by other agencies that provide air traffic control, communications, weather, charting, and associated services.

1-1-2. DISTRIBUTION

This order is distributed to selected offices in Washington and regional headquarters; FAA Technical Center and the Aeronautical Center; all ATO service area offices and field facilities; all International Aviation Field Offices; Airport District Offices; Flight Standards District Offices; and the interested aviation public.

1-1-3. CANCELLATION

FAA Order JO 7340.1Z, Contractions, is cancelled.

1-1-4. EFFECTIVE DATE

This order is effective June 5, 2008.

1-1-5. SCHEDULE OF PUBLICATION AND DELIVERY DATES

a. This order and its changes are scheduled to be published every 112 days. Effective dates will be:

b.If a facility has not received the Order/changes within 5 days prior to the effective date, the facility shall notify its regional/service area office distribution officer.

1-1-6. NOTATION OF NEW ENTRIES

Additions and changes are indicated on page CAM-1-1.

1-1-7. CHANGES, ERRORS, AND OMISSIONS

To report changes to information in the Contractions Order, write to FAA, System Operations Services/System Operations Airspace and AIM Office, 800 Independence Avenue, SW, Washington, DC 20591 or call (202) 267-9224.

1-1-8. GENERAL NOTICES (GENOTS)

ICAO does not issue, modify, or cancel telephony/identifier assignments, as does the FAA through GENOTs. If there appears to be a conflict between published data and GENOT data, use the GENOT data. Then make pen and ink changes to reflect the GENOT data.
