Extended Care and Rehabilitation

Our extended care and rehabilitation program provides physical medicine and rehabilitation, transitional care, as well as home and community care. Our Geriatric and Research Education and Clinical Center is also a part of this program.

Mental Health

Our mental health program provides consultation, evaluation, and treatment for a variety of issues that can impact emotional well-being.

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Program

Military Sexual Trauma (MST) is the VA term for sexual harassment and sexual assault that occurred during a veteran’s military service. Both men and women can experience Military Sexual Trauma (MST), both men and women can perpetrate it.

We have clinical staff trained to help survivors of Military Sexual Trauma (MST) here at the St. Louis VAMC. If you know of a veteran who experienced Military Sexual Trauma (MST), please contact Brad Overmeyer, LMSW, Military Sexual Trauma (MST) Coordinator at (314) 652-4100 extension 54878.

Community Living Centers

Available to eligible veterans within the medical center's unit at the Jefferson Barracks Divsion or through contractual arrangements with community facilities.

Pastoral Service

Pastoral service provides a wide range of spiritual support and counseling services to both inpatient and outpatient veterans.  Family members and significant others are also eligible for chaplain services.

Pharmacy

Pharmacy Service is available for all patients to provide both pharmaceutical care and drug distribution at both divisions of the medical center. Read more about our pharmacy program.

Polytrauma

The St. Louis Polytrauma Network Site is one of twenty-one facilities in the country designed to provide long-term rehabilitative care to veterans and service members who experienced severe injuries (including brain injuries) to more than one organ system. Read more about our polytrauma program.

Primary Care

Our primary care program offers an extensive range of treatments with an emphasis on health care prevention. List of RN Case Managers and Health Care Providers.

Our research and development program enhances our ability to provide state-of-the-art medical techniques and treatments to veterans.

Returning Service Members OIF/OEF

The United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs has opened a Seamless Transition Program across the country for returning Active Duty, National Guard and Reserve service members of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom (OEF/OIF). Social Work

As a part of your treatment team, Social Work Service is available to assist you and your family with problems that result from illness and/or hospitalization.  Our social workers can assist you and your family in accessing the VAs network of care.  If you would like to see a social worker, notify your doctor, nurse, or ward clerk; or, call the main Social Work office at 314-289-6391 or extension 56391 from within the medical center.

Specialty Care

Our specialty care program offers all surgical specialties as well as neurology, radiation, oncology, and audiology.

Spinal Cord Injury

Our spinal cord injury program provides comprehensive care to patients who have suffered spinal cord injuries, including surgery and rehabilitation. Read more about our spinal cord injury program.

Suicide Prevention Program

The Suicide Prevention Coordinator for the St. Louis VA Medical Center is Jane Tomory, LCSW. She can be reached at the JC Division, ext 54879. A VA nation-wide SUICIDE PREVENTION HOTLINE number – 1-800-273-TALK (8255) is available to all patients and families.

Women's Healthcare Clinic

Our woman veterans' health program includes a number of clinical services available to women, including gynecology, mammography, reproductive care, and menopause treatment.
