Integrated Noise Model Version 6.1

This update incorporates new algorithms that alter the fundamental lateral attenuation equations contained in INM for propeller aircraft and jet aircraft with wing-mounted engines. These changes are based on research both in the United States and internationally.

INM Version 6.1 includes data for 5 new aircraft, including the Airbus:

There is also new or expanded INM data for the Airbus A310-304.

New Features
New features include the ability to export noise contours and other visual layers into ESRI Shapefiles and the expanded ability to process and import Census Tiger/Line data for counties, places (e.g., city) and census block boundaries.

Many of the new Census data and GIS features are demonstrated in the INM example studies and this release contains complete updates for these test studies. For this reason, the INM 6.1 update is much larger (9 Mb) than previous updates to the INM 6.0 series.

Previous Versions
Previous versions of INM contained 115 aircraft that were derived from the USAF NOISEMAP program. These aircraft have been re-processed to expand the noise-power-distance relationships that are computed with the USAF Omega program. NOISEMAP transient profiles are available for 85 aircraft and these have been processed into INM Standard data.

INM Version 6.1, released March 4, 2003 , is a software update to Version 6.0c. You must already have INM Version 6.0, 6.0a, 6.0b, or 6.0c installed to use this update. If you do not have one of previous versions, you can order INM Version 6.1 (PDF) . The 6.0 User’s Guide (9/99) and the 6.0 Technical Manual (1/02) are the current manuals for INM Version 6.1. Release notes inm60a.pdf (5/00), inm60b.pdf (1/01), inm60c.pdf (9/01), and Inm61.pdf (02/03) document changes to INM after these manuals were published.
