Reedsport, OR – The Sandy Way access to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, located 18 miles south of Reedsport near Hauser Depot Road, will be temporarily closed to the public while crews work to pave an intersection west of the railroad . The project scheduled for this week, will have intermittent site closures Tuesday, September 30, 2008, and be completely closed from 8 am to 5 pm Wednesday October 1, 2008.
“The closure will provide for public safety and contract efficiency,” said Dispersed Recreation Supervisor Sharon Stewart. “While Sandy Way is a popular access route for area Off Highway Vehicles and we need to improve the intersection used by both full size vehicles and OHV’s.” Access to the beach and private lands from this location will be limited during construction.
This trail maintenance project is made possible through Secure Rural
Schools and Community Self-Determination Act 2000 funding. For more
