Oregon Dunes Offering Guided Tours

Reedsport, OR – Want to learn more about the Oregon Dunes while enjoying the open air? The Oregon Dunes National Recreation will be offering guided ATV tours every Saturday beginning August 9, running through mid-September. Tours will be offered at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.
“The purpose for the guided tours is to introduce riders to the rare environment of the Dunes, along with elements that shape them”, said Angie Morris, off-highway vehicle supervisor for the ODNRA. “The Forest Service-led rides will cover topics including dune formation, the movement of European Beach Grass, geological features, wildlife, and management challenges.”
Maximum group size is 20 riders, and the rides last about one hour. Riders must comply with Oregon State laws for off-highway vehicles.
Initially, the rides will take place in the Umpqua Dunes riding area near Winchester Bay. Later this summer, the rides will be offered at other locations in the ODNRA, including the Siltcoos and Spinreel riding areas.
