Cape Perpetua to Host Tidepool Discovery DaysContacts: May 30, 2008 Yachats, OR - Come to the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area and explore the unique habitat of a variety of aquatic species. The staff and volunteers at the Cape Perpetua Visitor Center will be hosting Tidepool Discovery Days on Saturday, June 7 and Sunday, June 8. “The Cape Perpetua Scenic Area is regarded by many as having some of the best tidepools on the Oregon Coast,” said Visitor Center Manager Paul Meznarich. The knowledgeable staff at Cape Perpetua provides visitors with the opportunity to get a close-up view of the beautiful and unique creatures of the intertidal zone. “We'll be experiencing exceptionally low tides these two days at Cape Perpetua, so it’s a great time to explore the tidepools,” Meznarich said. Naturalists will be stationed at the tidepools from 10 a.m.-noon to share the wonders of the tidepools and the life forms that inhabit them. Films and hikes highlighting the entire Scenic Area will also be available both days at the Visitor Center Theater from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. The Cape Perpetua Visitor Center is located three miles south of Yachats
on Highway 101 and is open daily from 10 a.m.-5:30 p.m. For more information,
please call the Visitor Center at 541-547-3289 or visit us on the web
