Waldport, OR - As part of the twentieth year of National Fishing Week, the Central Coast Ranger District-Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area, Oregon State Parks and Recreation, Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife, other agencies and private groups, invite you to come out for a fun day of free fishing on Saturday June 7 and Sunday June 8.

Kids’ Fishing Weekend Clinics/Derbies will be held at three different sites. Children can participate in fishing instructions, demonstrations, fly/knot tying, kid’s activities, water safety, and more.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children for free fishing and a host of other family-oriented, activities. “This is an opportunity for kids of all ages to have a good time, catch a few fish, and learn a few things at the same time,” said District Ranger Pam Gardner. “It’s a great way to expose young people to the great outdoors and have a fun time with the whole family.”

Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife has authorized free fishing to all persons, regardless of age, for the entire weekend. State size restrictions and catch limits are in effect at each site as stated in the 2008 Oregon Sport Fishing Regulations book.
