Raphael and His Circle: Drawings from Windsor Castle

May 14-July 23, 2000

Overview: 66 drawings by Raphael and his precursors, assistants, and followers were selected from the collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. In addition to 21 works by Raphael, drawings by artists who influenced Raphael's style, including Perugino and Luca Signorelli, and by Raphael's followers Giulio Romano, Perino del Vaga, and Polidoro da Caravaggio were shown.

The exhibition was organized by the Royal Library, Windsor Castle, in association with the National Gallery of Art, Washington. Martin Clayton of the Royal Library and Andrew Robison, Andrew W. Mellon Senior Curator, National Gallery of Art, coordinated the exhibition. It was supported by an indemnity from the Federal Council on the Arts and the Humanities.
