Snow Surveys Results Above Average The Adin Mountain (Sweagert Flat) snow survey was completed on March 31. Snow depth was 33.7 inches compared to the long-term average of 33.4 inches. Water content was 13.7 inches compared to the long-term average of 12.7 inches.
The Blue Lake Ranch snow survey was completed on April 1. Snow depth was 27.8 inches compared to the long-term average of 27.4 inches. Water content was 11.3 inches compared to the long-term average of 10.0 inches.
The Cedar Pass snow survey was completed on April 1. Snow depth was 46.1 inches compared to the long-term average of 44.1 inches. Water content was 13.8 inches compared to the long-term average of 16.5 inches.
Medicine Lake Road Closure EA - Decision
The Doublehead Ranger District has issued the Decision to implement a Forest Order that maintains the current road management signing and authorization that is published on on Forest Recreation Map and in the 1991 Forest Plan, and in an expired Forest Order. The order would list those roads as closed to public use the roads that are need for administration use only. Access to these roads would be by special permit or other authorization. All other roads would remain open for public use as currently administered, and travel off designated roads would be prohibited.

Snowmobiling in the Medicine Lake Highlands Area
All the snow you could want, and then some! Roads have been freshly plowed to Doorknob Snow park with approximately 3 ½ feet of snow by the warming hut.
On February 4, Lost Springs Loop was groomed. On February 7, the Medicine Lake Loop was groomed. Roads have been plowed to Chuck Best/Deer Mtn. Snowmobile Park, and 4 Corners, with 2’ of snow in both parking lots.

The Forest service has supplied fire wood for the warming hut and some of the rounds will need to be split to fit into the stove. You will need to furnish your own splitting maul to split the larger rounds.

Order 09-08-02) Local Forest Roads Are Not Plowed!
Local Forest Roads are not plowed. If roads are covered by snow, stop and turn around, it is wise not to use them. You could be stuck in an isolated area with no means of communications. If you travel on the Forest roads in winter insure you leave your travel plans with a trusted friend who will call the County Sheriff if you do not return on time., and carry water, food, warm clothes etc.

The travel management/route designation process is underway. The roads/trails inventory maps are ready for review by the public and the Forest is listening to hear about what sites and roads need to included in a proposed action.
