The mission of the Division
of Child Support Enforcement is to provide child support services to
ensure that children receive financial and emotional support from both
parents and empower families to become self-sufficient. |

The Division of Child Support Enforcement (DCSE) offers services to Mississippi's children and families by securing financial and medical support. Every child deserves the love and support of both parents to develop into the most productive adult possible. DCSE operates 84 offices in 82 counties to ensure the availability of child support services to all eligible persons in the State of Mississippi. As a result of the child support enforcement services provided by DCSE, Mississippi's public assistance rolls have decreased, which has reduced expenditures for Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). Enforcing financial support to children and families builds the capacity of families to become self-sufficient and less dependent upon TANF benefits. Child Support collections for State Fiscal Year (SFY) 2008 totaled $264,727,367. 2008 collections increased 21.9 million over last year's collections. Paternity establishment percentage increased to 91% in SFY 2007. 3,038 incarceration orders were obtained; 900 noncustodial parents paid $978,623 to be released from jail. |
