FAA proposes to cut weather forecasting stations
In a budget-cutting move, the FAA has proposed firing 39 Center Weather Service Forecasting Unit meteorologists, closing the CWSU stations at the Air Route Traffic Control Centers, and consolidating ATC en route weather advisory positions.
Diamond Aircraft lays off 180
Diamond Aircraft’s London, Ontario, facility has issued temporary lay-off notices to 180 of its 684 employees, effective Jan. 12.
Cessna lays off 2,000 workers
Cessna Aircraft Company officials announced Jan. 12 that it must lay off 2,000 workers because of deferred or canceled business jet orders.
Lynne Osmus to become acting FAA Administrator
Career FAA executive Lynne A. Osmus will become acting FAA Administrator when the current acting administrator leaves at the end of the Bush administration Jan. 20.
