The Nixon White House Tapes are among the National Archives most important holdings – and also among the most fragile.
- The Nixon White House Tapes consist of 950 open reel analog tape recordings, or approximately 3,700 hours of conversation.
- 2,019 hours of Nixon White House tape conversations are available for research
The Nixon White House Tapes are organized in two groups:
- Complete Conversations

Processed and released according to the 1996 Tapes Settlement Agreement, these tapes are being processed chronologically in segments.
- Watergate-Related Conversations
–
Subpoenaed by the WSPF, these segments (excerpts) were among the first tapes released to the public.
