Background:
Annually, grantees of the MCHB Healthy Start Program provide information on their program, including data on risk reduction/prevention services provided to program participants during the reporting year.
Prenatal and interconceptional women receive counseling on such health issues as STDs, smoking, alcohol use, drug use, mental health, overweight and obesity, gestational diabetes, and asthma, among others. Mothers of infants and children receive counseling on such issues as drug and alcohol exposure, mental health, developmental delays, asthma and other special health needs.
