Environmental Compliance Overview

The Hurricane Katrina disaster resulted in an unprecedented situation where the level of devastation, immediate need for action, and extent of reconstruction projects warrant that FEMA consider FEMA-funded critical physical infrastructure projects for the Greater New Orleans area together rather than individually.

This section describes FEMA's procedures, agreements, and documents prepared to ensure compliance with environmental and historic preservation laws in the Greater New Orleans area.  These tools apply to the critical physical infrastructure that fall under NEPA Alternative Arrangements as well as other FEMA-funded actions or undertakings.  Four subsections address these topics:
