Information Science & Technology Institute (ISTI)

The Information Science and Technology Institute is a collection of educational institutes covering a range of fields including:

  • Information Science and Technology
  • Computer Science
  • Computational Science
  • Applied Mathematics

The ISTI concentrates on areas of great importance to the future of Los Alamos including:

  • Extreme Scale Data Management
  • Data Intensive Computing
  • Extreme Scale Reliable Computing
  • Algorithms and Methods including Informatics
  • Multi-core and Hybrid Computing

The ISTI member institutes assist LANL in recruiting new employees in the Information Science area. The institute also will provide retention and revitilization activities for existing LANL staff including allowing LANL staff to pursue advanced CS degrees, take graduate level CS classes, mentor students, and teach classes and seminars. Additionally the ISTI will promote joint LANL/University collaborations which revitalize LANL staff. A concentration on joint collaboration that will lead to external joint funding opportunities will be emphasized.
