Head and Neck Cancer - Featured Clinical Trials
The following list shows Featured Clinical Trials for a specific type of cancer. You may also want to view:
1. Preventing Mucositis in Head and Neck Cancer Patients (Posted: 03/20/2007, Updated: 06/17/2008) - In this trial, patients undergoing combination chemotherapy and radiation therapy (chemoradiotherapy) for advanced head and neck cancer will receive intravenous palifermin or placebo before and during cancer treatment to prevent mucositis, a common but serious side effect of chemoradiotherapy for this type of cancer.
2. Chemoprevention Trial for Head and Neck Cancer (Posted: 02/01/2005, Updated: 03/05/2008) - In this study, researchers are investigating the ability of pioglitazone, a drug used to treat type II diabetes, to reverse leukoplakia and prevent it from developing into head and neck cancer.
3. Treatment for Recurrent Head and Neck Cancer (Posted: 01/31/2006, Updated: 01/08/2007) - In this clinical trial, researchers seek to determine if giving concurrent radiation therapy and chemotherapy to patients with inoperable, recurrent head and neck cancer who were treated initially with radiation therapy will improve survival rates for these patients.
4. Studying Dyskeratosis Congenita (Posted: 07/11/2006) - Persons with a rare disorder called dyskeratosis congenita (DC) tend to have a high risk of developing bone marrow failure, leukemia, or certain carcinomas. NCI is undertaking an intensive assessment of families with DC to learn more about how genes associated with it lead to cancer development and to identify new susceptibility genes for DC.
5. Treatment for Locally Advanced Head and Neck Cancer (Posted: 07/05/2006) - This trial will enroll patients with locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of the larynx, oropharynx, or hypopharynx. All patients will be treated with radiotherapy and cisplatin. In addition, half of the patients will be treated with a monoclonal antibody called cetuximab.
