Screening Criteria for National Referral Program

The consultation template along with all medical records for the patient are reviewed by the clinical team. The case is discussed by members and a decision is made based on the following criteria:

  1. The patient has unexplained symptoms after adequate primary and secondary work up, including a psychiatric evaluation.
  2. The patient's concerns are related to his or her deployment to a hostile area.
  3. The patient has not abused substances for at least 6 months.
  4. The patient has a stable living arrangement.
  5. The patient is safe to travel to the WRIISC.

If all of the criteria are met, the patient is invited in for an evaluation. If not, appropriate interventions are made to address the patient's concerns and needs as thoroughly and safely as possible.
