Exposure Clinic

The War Related Illness and Injury Study Center (WRIISC) at the East Orange VA Medical Center is pleased to announce a new clinic established to address veterans' deployment and service related exposure concerns. Through this effort the WRIISC will both address the individual exposure concerns of more veterans and serve as a leader of expertise in this area of deployment health.

Do you have:
Concerns about possible health effects of exposures that your patients might have had during deployments and/or service?

Do your patients have:
Concerns about possible current or future health effects from exposures they may have had during deployments or during their time in service, including potential exposure to?

  • Anthrax Vaccine
  • Depleted Uranium
  • Multiple Immunizations
  • Prophylactic Medications
  • Nerve Agents or their antidotes
  • Sandstorms
  • Soot from oil well fires
  • Air Pollution from burning trash
  • Jet Fuel, Solvents, Paints, Heavy metals, etc.
  • The impact of exposures on family members

The key to addressing exposure concerns is taking a solid exposure history and placing health concerns in context.

You can now refer your patients to the WRIISC for a consultation to discuss these concerns. Simply place a consult in CPRS and we will schedule a consultation. We will document the consultation in CPRS along with any follow-up recommendations.
