VA Office of Management

About Us

VA’s Office of Management (OM) is responsible for directing the Department’s budgetary, financial, capital asset management and business oversight functions. OM has two primary roles – operational, in support of the Department’s Administrations and staff offices so they can accomplish their missions, and stewardship, to ensure for the Secretary VA’s compliance with laws, policies and directions from external organizations such as OMB, Treasury, GSA, GAO and Congress. OM is under the direction of Assistant Secretary for Management who serves as the Department's Chief Financial Officer (CFO), Energy Executive, Environmental Executive, and Real Property Executive.

OM is comprised of the following five major organizational elements that report to the Assistant Secretary for Management and the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Management:

  • Office of Budget
  • Office of Finance
  • Office of Asset Enterprise Management
  • Office of Business Oversight
  • Office of Financial and Logistics Integrated Technology Enterprise

What We Do

OM’s responsibilities are executed through programs administered by the Deputy Assistant Secretaries for Budget, and Finance; and by the Directors of Asset Enterprise Management and Office of Business Oversight. OM provides direct operational support in the areas of: 1) financial operations and systems services; 2) financial policy; 3) capital asset planning and management; 4) budget formulation and execution; and 5) performance planning and reporting and business oversight.
