Colville and the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forests begin preparing for revision of forest plans.

January-December
2003
Public involvement effort begins with identification of what needs to be changed in the current forest plans. Forest Service collects data and information on changes to the social, ecological, and economic conditions.
January-December
2005
January 2005; new planning rule approved and Colville, Okanogan-Wenatchee elect to continue plan revision under the 2005 Planning Rule. Forest Service works with the public to validate the need for change.
January-December
2006-07
Forest service continues preparing draft revised forest plan. Public involvement activities put on hold in March due to injunction against 2005 Planning Rule. Forest Services continues work on Planning Rule-neutral components of the plan.
January-December
2008
Forest Service continues preparing draft revised forest plans. Approval of new national 2008 Planning Rule in April allows public involvement efforts to continue.
January-December
2009
Forest Service continues preparing draft revised forest plans.
March
2010
Release of a draft revised forest plan for public review.
June
2010
Release draft revised forest plan for 90-day comment period.
December
2010
Opportunity for objection to the revised forest plan.
April
2011
Approve final plans and start implementing.
