FOREST PLAN PUBLIC INVOLVEMENT

The public involvement process is continuous through all stages of Plan Revision and incorporates a variety of activities to facilitate the engagement of and communication with interested individuals, organizations and communities in the plan development.

Types of coordinated public involvement activities that have taken place to date include meetings with the public (either coordinated by the Forest Service, or by invitation from groups, organizations and individuals), presentations to organizations and employees, collaboration efforts, newsletters, website information, and correspondence.

A focused “Collaboration Effort” on both Forests is just one of the ways the Forests and planning team have sought to engage the public.

To find out what stage of Plan Revision we’re currently in, please go to our “Timeline” page. We’re always interested in hearing from you.

People interested in forest plan revision can participate by attending public meetings that are held from time to time, or by submitting written e-mail comments or comments mailed via the U.S. Postal Service. You can also participate in the Forest Plan Revision process by going to our “Contact Us” page and filling out the information in the spaces provided.

The public comments will be used to:

  • Assess and document the current situation,
  • Establish the preliminary need for change to the current Forest Plans,
  • Provide the basis for a range of Forest Plan options,
  • Provide information to help determine the nature of the final Revised Plan.
