Volunteer or Give

Volunteering:

Volunteers provide many important functions throughout the Medical Center and help make our patients' stay more enjoyable. Volunteers can perform a number of services, and a volunteer's talents are closely matched with one of our many assignments:

·   Volunteer Transportation – Many veterans who have answered our nation’s call in times of war have disabilities or can’t afford transportation to a VA Hospital. The Volunteer Transportation Network encourages new volunteers to assist our veterans in getting needed transportation for their medical treatment.

·   Corporate Volunteering – Your employees have the skills and talents that VA needs to carry out its mission to “service those who have served.”  This can be your chance to give something back to the community while helpi9ng American’s veterans. Let the VA tailor a program for your company to utilize your employee’s skills in rewarding ways.

·   Student Volunteering – Anyone under the age of 19 is eligible to work as a student volunteer with VA.  In addition, the James H. Parke Memorial Youth Scholarship Award provides scholarships to exceptional student volunteers.  Student volunteering offers valuable training for college or a future job.

·   National Salute – This program is designed to pay tribute to hospitalized veterans, increase community awareness, and encourage citizens to visit hospitalized veterans and become involved as volunteers.  The week of Valentine’s Day is the perfect opportunity to participate. The National Salute invites individual, businesses, Civic organizations and school children to participate in a variety of activities at the VA medical center.
